Rapids Field Hockey only hires coaches that align specifically with our Coaching Philosophy.  Our coaches are players themselves and USAFH certified Level I or II .  Most of them have competed collegiately at D1 and D3 colleges.  Each of them has a passion for the sport and a desire to develop players and grow the game. Meg is a Level II USAFH and VHSL certified coach and helms the Varsity Field Hockey team at Broad Run High School.  She was named 2016 and 2017 Conference 14 Coach of the Year.  She has been coaching all age groups with the Rapids since 2011 and led her U12 Rapids team to a gold medal at the 2015 NITs.  Meg was awarded the 2014 Junior Field Hockey Award by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) for her work in bringing and growing field hockey in Loudoun County.  In her spare time, she is also a Region 8 USAFH Futures Head Coach.  Meg enjoys coaching because she loves to see the players and their confidence grow not just as field hockey players but as people.

Ashley is a Level II USAFH certified coach and Head Coach at Shenandoah University (Winchester, VA).  She was a DI player at Michigan State and helped MSU to a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances and a Big Ten championship.  Ashley has been the head coach of Shenandoah University, since 2013.  In the fall of her first year with the SU Hornets, Ashley led her team to 10 overall wins and six ODAC victories, setting a new program record. SU finished that year as the runner-up in the regular season, and earned Ashley the 2013 ODAC Coach of the Year honors.  In 2015 Ashley led her Hornets to an overall 11 wins including a 9 game winning streak with six ODAC victories and in 2016 won the first ODAC Championship for the field hockey program.  Coach Ashley was also named the 2016 VaSID Coach of the Year.  Prior to SU she spent five years as an assistant coach at longtime DIII power University of Rochester (who appeared in the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals in 2012), and was a student-assistant coach for MSU (2007-08).

Kelsey is a Level I USAFH and VHSL certified coach and has completed her first year of coaching in Loudoun County as the Assistant Coach at Stone Bridge HS.  A local resident, Kelsey played varsity hockey at Robinson Secondary in Fairfax and played club hockey at the College of William & Mary.  She is also a 1st grade teacher at Creighton's Corner in Ashburn.

Brooke is a Level I USAFH and VHSL certified coach.  She is currently a Physical Education teacher at McLean High School, where she served as the Varsity Field Hockey coach.  Brooke was a four-year starter for the DI Ohio University Bobcats from 2008-2012 and helped lead the Bobcats to the NCAA Tournament in 2011. She served as captain and was a two-time National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I Academic Squad selection. Edwards scored the game-winning overtime goal for the Bobcats in the 2011 MAC Championship. In her four years at Ohio University, they recorded 2 MAC Championships.  Brooke comes to the Virginia area from two years in Cleveland, Ohio where she was the varsity field hockey coach and a physical education teacher at Hathaway Brown School. While at HB, Brooke led the team to a record of 12-5 and coached 7 All-Region players.  Before arriving to Cleveland, Edwards was the graduate assistant coach at Ohio under head coach Neil Macmillan for one year.

Ashley Cross fell in love with the sport of field hockey when she was 10 years old. Ashley played at DIII Shenandoah University in Winchester, VA.  During her time at SU Ashley served as captain her senior year and earned was named First Team, All State, All Region, and All Tournament Team. She was awarded with the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Field Hockey Player of the Year award her senior year before enrolling in graduate school where she obtained her MBA.

Rapids Field Hockey believes in equal opportunity for each athlete to develop and play to the goals they set for themselves. We coach and teach players to be well-prepared for competition and to have fun enjoying the passion for their sport.  Our culture is rooted in respect for all both on and off the courts/field.  We believe in promoting the benefits of youth sports to carry over into all areas of our athletes lives.
